60 specimens of bluefin tuna tagged in the scientific conferences of the Club Náutico de Moraira

The two days of capture, tagging and release of bluefin tuna for the preservation of marine fauna have ended successfully

Last Saturday, June 11, it took place at the Moraira Yacht Club the Closing Ceremony of the two days of capture, marking and release of Red tuna. An event of an exclusively scientific nature, which for the third time has been co-organized by the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO) and the Moraira Yacht Club.

The weather accompanied both days and this allowed the participating crews, authorized by the General Secretary of Fisheries, managed to tag around 60 specimens of bluefin tuna, whose sole objective is the preservation of marine fauna.

In this act, the President of the Moraira Yacht Club, Juan Vicente Oller, expressed his satisfaction at having contributed with the IEO to such important scientific work. “Thanks to all the collaborating crews, to all the sponsors of the days, especially to the official sponsor Furuno Spain and to the attending authorities, among which the Hon. Mr. Deputy Delegate for Defense in Alicante, to the Alicante Naval Commander and to the President of the Spanish Fisheries Federation”, added Oller.

Subsequently, a brotherhood dinner was held during which all the collaborators, coming from other ports, from other autonomous communities and even from other countries such as France and Italy, unanimously congratulated the co-organizers.
