Ondara celebrates its traditional Fira de Fires from November 12 to 27

For three weekends the Fair of Attractions, the Route of the Tapas and the Little Train of the Fair return to normal

Ondara will live again this month of November its traditional Fire Fair since 1690. This year, after three years, all traditional events can be held normally without restrictions.

The program of the Fira de Fires Ondara 2022 will take place from November 12 to 27 and during the three weekends there will be amusement fair (at its usual location on Calle Naciones Sin Estado); Tapas Contest (in the local establishments themselves), Fair Train and a booth with sweet and salty tasting of the Festeros de la Soledad y Cristo 2023 around Prado.

It should be noted that Wednesday, November 16 and 23, will be the days of boys and girls at the Ondara 2022 Fair, with reduced prices on attractions.

First weekend of the fair: November 12 and 13

On Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 November the VI Marina Alta Fair will take place (in the Prado building), the Canine Contest (on the 13th at 9:30 a.m. in the Ondara bullring) and the AECC Calendar Presentation (on Saturday 12 at 8:00 p.m. in the Prado building).

The VI Marina Alta Fair with the 5 senses, organized by the Marina Alta Cultural Commonwealth (MACMA), is an event that is preceded by the 2015 regional tourism fair, the 2016 gastronomic-themed fair, the 2017 wine fair , the tribute to the landscape of the Marina Alta in 2018, and the 2019 'El tacto'. A strategic meeting that brings together all the towns of the region under the same framework of promotion and collaboration.

Programming of the VI Marina Alta Fair with the 5 senses

Saturday November 12 – From 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. – El Prado
10:00 am – Opening of the VI Marina Alta Fair, with the 5 senses.
12:00 pm to 12:30 pm – Official opening. The regional authorities will leave from the Town Hall and will go to Prado, accompanied by the Ondara Gang of dulzainas and tabals.
1:00 p.m. – Act of recognition of the cultural trajectory of the musical groups of the Marina Alta. With the Federation of Musical Societies of the Valencian Community – Marina Alta Area and the Valencian Federation of Dulzaineros/nada and Tabaleters/nada – Marina Alta Area The act will be enlivened by a musical representation of the different Musical Societies of the region.
5:00 pm – Round table 'The evolution and recovery of the dulzaina and the tabal, and their position in music conservatories'. In charge of the Valencian Federation of dulzaineros/nothing and tabaleters/nothing.
6:00 pm – Round table 'The candidacy of the Valencian Musical Societies for Intangible Heritage of Humanity – UNESCO'.
7:00 pm – Presentation of the book 'An approach to the folklore of the Valencian Community'. By the author Pol Alcaide. Lecture-Concert with a brief introduction to medieval music with traditional and medieval artisan instruments.
8:00 pm – Presentation to music of the 'Calendar against cancer 2023' by the Association against Cancer. The music presentation will be enlivened by Marta Fornali.

Sunday November 13 – From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. – El Prado

11:00 am – Initial parade with Benibatuka (Vall de Gallinera).
11.30 am – 'Micro-concert by Jean Jass' (Orba, Xaló and Pego)
12.15 pm – Eva Olivencia presents her album 'Vivir' (Dénia)
1:00 p.m. – Performance of the Fable by the Orba Municipal School of Music
5:00 p.m. – Rebeca Mut presents her album ´Mujeres Salvajes´ and acoustic news.

*Throughout the weekend: Artisan stalls with local products and tastings from the Marina Alta.

Second weekend of the fair: November 19 and 20

On Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 November, in the Prado Building, the traditional Trade and Business Fair will be held. An event that according to the Mayor, José Ramiro, "is a sign of the strength of local commerce, which shows that local businesses are alive."

Local businesses and businesses will participate in this fair, which has the collaboration of the Ondara Association of Merchants and Entrepreneurs (ACO), the president of which, Imma Peiró, has highlighted the Association's satisfaction because this year, after two editions with restrictions, the fair can be held again with all the stands.

Some thirty local businesses and some regional ones have confirmed their participation in the Ondara trade fair. At the moment, the confirmed participating businesses are the following: Alberto Picó Butcher Shop, Luansa – Soler Herramientas, Muebles Ortolá, Motos Mahiques, Gala's, Passicos, Calzados Dora, Muebles Escrivá, Driving School Ondara, Kobold, El desván de Aitana – Coco kids, Coqueta Moda Children, Dried fruits La Marina-Nuts@go, Maika Regalos, Coletas Kids fashion & accessories, Toni Ortolá Diseño, Sonrisas, Dilatando Mentas, Fustabella, Salvadore Gutiérrez hairdresser, Bodegas Aguilar, Maxima Bikes, and Staner Events.

The program for this second weekend of the fair will be completed with the traditional Animal Fair in the bullring, organized with the collaboration of the Association of Carreteros y Cavallistes de Ondara. The fair will have 12 corrals with all kinds of animals and, as announced by the Councilor for Associations, Miguel Gomis, from the Association of Carreteros y Cavallistes, cars will be available at noon to take the boys and girls who wish for a walk. In addition, there will be a magnificent car exhibition in the bullring. Exhibitors from the entire Valencian Community will participate in the animal exhibition.

Third weekend of the fair: November 26 and 27

On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 November, in the surroundings of the Prado Building, the Christmas Firework will be organized. In addition, on Saturday 26 at 9:00 p.m., the First Local Commerce Gala and delivery of the I Ondara Local Commerce Awards will be held as a novelty; an event organized by the ACO and the Ondara City Council, which will have a dinner and gala in which different recognition awards will be given to local businesses (innovative, young, trajectory, entrepreneur...).

On Sunday 27, from 9 am on Avenida de Alicante, there will be a concentration of classic vehicles. This year the Ondara Custom Club has declined the realization of the Matinal Motera, but the gastronomic tasting in Prado becomes the Route of the Tapas in the establishments themselves.

The III Tapas Contest will be held again this year in the local catering establishments, bars and restaurants, and will take place over three weekends in November 2022 (from November 12 to 27).

Participation in the contest is free for local bars and restaurants. Each participating establishment will have to prepare a tapa to participate in the contest, where its sale price will be a tapa plus a beer or a glass of wine for 3 euros.

The contest has a prize for the best tapa in town (financially endowed with 400 euros for the winning bar or restaurant and 200 euros for the second), and a dinner raffle for customers who have completed the 70% of the participating tapas. At the moment, they are already confirmed: Asley, Cervera, Prado, Karma, Social Center, La Parada, Sant Lluís, Valero and La Xata de Sole.

Regarding the amusement fair, it will be installed again for three weekends in November (12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27 November 2022) in the parking lot located on Calle Naciones Sin Estado. This year, Children's Day will be on Wednesday, November 16 and 23, and the attractions will cost 1.5 euros.

As confirmed by José Ramiro, a novelty is that the firers who have the music turned off at certain times will be transferred in order to make a more inclusive amusement fair that allows the participation of people with autism spectrum.

On the other hand, from the Culture area of the Ondara City Council, it has been announced that on weekends the concerts of Santa Cecília of the UMO stand out (November 19, Ondara Youth Band, and November 26, the Ondara Musical Union, to 7:00 p.m., in the Municipal Auditorium of Ondara).
