The Department of Social services of the Town Hall of Xàbia has created a new basic area of attention in the Arenal neighborhood, located in the building Civic Punt. A social worker, a social educator and an administrative assistant already provide their services there, a team that is complemented by the housing office that is also based in this space.
As explained by the Councilor for Social Services, Rita Berruti, the new territorial organization of Valencian social services makes decentralization possible and basic primary care in social matters can be brought closer to the neighbours.
Given the circumstances of Arenal, it has been decided to start with this neighborhood to provide its residents with access to information, consultations or procedures related to social services (such as dependency requests, large families, emergency aid, Valencian Income, vulnerability reports, information on obtaining a disability certificate, non-contributory pensions, etc.).
Residents will be assisted at the Cívic Punt offices (Carretera Cabo La Nao-Pla nº 122, corner with Calle Saint Tropez). There, in addition, the usual activities of social revitalization will continue to be carried out, from Spanish classes for foreigners, self-help groups for women, recreational activities for children or school revision classes, among others.
