Until now Councilor for Finance, Procurement, Historical Center and New Technologies, Ximo Segarra, will also assume the powers in economic promotion after the resignation of the previous manager, Marta Banuls.
Segarra faces this new responsibility with enthusiasm, desire and willingness to collaborate closely with the business associations of the municipality. In fact, the mayor already plans to convene the groups shortly to introduce themselves, listen to them and advance some of the projects on which the department is working.
"I am going to continue the initiatives that Marta has outlined and also to propose others, both for commercial revitalization or help to modernize the sector, as well as those that can serve as direct support to the business fabric of Xàbia in these difficult times" has advanced the councilor.
Segarra wanted to value the work carried out by her predecessor in a very complicated legislature due to the health pandemic, which has triggered an important municipal response in terms of aid to small businesses and the self-employed.
The councilor has shown his motivation for being able to work with an important group such as the local business community, generator of employment, source of wealth in the municipality and energizer of life in the neighborhoods. Also because, during this legislature, he has dedicated himself mainly to areas more focused on internal management and a department such as Commerce will allow him a different type of work, with greater contact with neighbors and entities.
When reorganizing the powers after the resignation for personal reasons of Bañus, the mayor, Jose Chulvi, has considered it very operative to bring together Economic Development and commerce with the Treasury, centralizing in one person all the areas related to the local economy and employment. In this decision, Chulvi has also taken into account Segarra's experience and his ability to work when preparing all the actions and measures of the aid and economic recovery plans during the pandemic, a process in which he was very involved and for which he was in contact with business associations.
In the next plenary session, and once the resignation of Marta Bañuls is officially announced, the next member of the socialist list, José Luis Luengo, will take possession of her minutes, and the other powers that the mayor had, such as the neighborhood of Duans.
